BOOSTING FUNDING FOR THE AIREBOROUGH NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN THROUGH LOCAL GIVING

page7-donate-buttonThe Aireborough Neighbourhood Development Forum (ANDF)  has been approved as a member of  Local Giving  to help fund our work supporting the regeneration and sustainable development of Aireborough – most notably at the moment, by facilitating the producing of a Neighbourhood Development Plan.  Members of the Forum approved the application to Local Giving outlined by Treasurer Joan Roberts, at the AGM in September 2014.

The ANDF is a voluntary organization, designated by Leeds City Council under the Localism Act 2011, to produce a Neighbourhood Development Plan for the Aireborough Neighbourhood Plan area.  The Forum raises its own funds to resource the achievement of objectives via donations, grants, sponsorship and earnings from events .  Currently we are seeking to fund the following evidence gathering in readiness for the site allocation public consultation which will be held after the General Election – either at the beginning or end of summer 2015.

  • a housing needs survey – tested at the Aireborough Festival, and supported by a Leeds Beckett University placement student.
  • a green space audit – currently being tested, and supported by a Leeds Beckett University placement student.
  • an A65 feasability study by professional consultants on improvements to reduce traffic and improve the environment – currently the subject of initial research on traffic conditions in Aireborough.
  • an Aireborough wide omnibus survey on what you want to see in the Plan – supported by a Leeds Beckett University placement student.
  • work on understanding what the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for our local economy.
  • information services on the neighbourhood plan to do with our obligation to ensure we have wide community engagement –  from publications to members newsletters to the opening of an urban design exhibition room.
  • any funding needed for an audit of Civic Assets that need registering – currently supported by a Leeds Beckett University placement student.

In March we will also be applying for Neighbourhood Grant funding from Locality of up to £8,000 for 2015.   In 2014 we received £7,000 to start master planning with Watson Batty , run the Aireborough Festival and other expenditure on information services eg websites, and running costs eg paper, and printing.

About Local Giving

Local Giving is based in Richmond, Surry, and is a  not-for-profit, social enterprize, that helps charities and constituted community groups find a stable funding stream to carry out their work. Local Giving itself is a registered charity and limited company which was set up in 2009; it is funded from the Local Giving Fund (formerly the Ardbrack Foundation), charges a membership fee, and takes a small commission on donations, in order to fund its services.  Members fo Local Giving have to be approved for membership in a process approved by the Charity Commission.

Donation Process

  1. Go to our Local Giving website localgiving.com/charity/aireboroughdnf
  2. Click on either the ‘Donate Now’ or ‘Give Monthly’ button
  3. Fill in the relevant amount and details; you will also be asked if you want to claim Gift Aid
  4. Local Giving then process 93% of the donation, retaining the remainder as commission to cover costs.  They then transfer the money to reach our bank account within 8-10days, through a charitable grant.
  5. They will also reclaim any Gift Aid, and provide match funding for the donation where it is relevant.

So a £10 donation with Gift Aid gives the ANDF £11.55, and without Gift Aid £9.18

Match Funding

Local Giving runs frequent match funding campaigns, where it matches any donations given by supporters of a charity or community organization. Under such a campaign a £10 donation with Gift Aid means we receive £21.55, or with no Gift Aid £19.18.   Match Funding is often provided by companies and external organizations such as the Eden Project, or the Heritage Lottery Fund, for a very limited period of time eg a day.
